Luxury design gites with swimming pool in the Dordogne; La Grange:
La Grange, now a very comfortable 6 pax, three bedroom apartment, had a huge prune drying oven in it, a huge wooden barrel for red wine and a concrete tank for white wine. Its height and roof construction were and still are spectacular.
It now has an industrial designer interior, showing off as much of the original building as possible. Doors and windows were added to give it lots of light.
You have a very comfortable private terrace, a great luxurious kitchen with a big stove, huge fridge, professional kitchen knives and all the necessities you can think off, even a small kitchenaid to make your own pesto etc. You have lounge sofas, your own music system and a lovely wood burner.
Every bedroom has its attached bathroom and toilet. You also have luxurious bedding, including bathroom towels, a swimming pool towel and a dressing gown. The double beds in each room have soft duvets.
Maybe it is good to know that 2 of the bedrooms are connected to the living room and one is more private with an own front door outside, while it is the same building.
Prices are per week from Saturday 16.00h till Saturday 10.00h and include dinner on Monday, tourist tax, electricity, end cleaning, bed linen and towels and some small surprises.
Holidays must be pure relaxation and you must feel the luxury. You need quiet surroundings, you must forget the rush of your work and that of the city. You need to sleep comfortably, eat well and get some exercise when you feel like it. You need to be able to sit outside in privacy, inside with your own music and meet some people if you want to.
Personally I love going to markets and use the local products for lunch and dinner.
So kitchen is important. I dare say you will have one the best equipped luxury kitchens in gites country. Your own private terrace has its own barbecue that you can also use as a heater in spring or autumn. Sleeping: we've only had compliments about the beds and the duvets. People love our 6x12 mtr black swimming pool. The Bowers & Wilkins A7 to connect to your smartphone or tablet is very much appreciated. But also practical things like a washing machine, hoover and internet connection in every gite.
Salle des fêtes: every village, even the smallest, seems to have one. We have one as well. We use it at least once a week. On Monday evening I cook for all our guests as a welcome and hello. In our real village Sainte Sabine Born, with 350 inhabitants, this is done once every so often as well. Everybody brings its own plates, cutlery and glasses and has a great evening. A good idea that I took over and introduced in our place. Volunteers to help me cook are always more than welcome....
If you feel like doing some gardening you are more than welcome in our vegetable garden where you can also pick your own vegetables.
