Budva is among the most popular coastal tourist destinations on the Adriatic coast, due to its miles of beautiful beaches, fantastic restaurants, luxury hotels, booming nightlife, and rich history. Located on the northwest coast between Tivat and Sveti Stefan, Budva offers visitors easy access to these and other popular destinations. Tivat airport is a mere 10 miles (16km) away for easy access to and from the rest of the world.
Every summer, visitors flock to Budva's pristine beaches to enjoy the Mediterranean sun. Popular events include the national music festival in June, and the summer festival from July to August. Local attractions include the famous walled town of Stari Grad. Though the 1979 earthquake damaged the town, it has been meticulously rebuilt to include shops, restaurants, bars and cafés. This popular sight provides a unique glimpse into the past.
Just 5 km south of Budva is the world reknowned island of Sveti Stefan. Formerly a quiet fishing village, the island has become a popular summer getaway for the world's jet-setters. Currently, the land on the island belongs to a luxury hotel, popular among the more elite visitors to the area. Non-hotel guests can visit the grounds for a small fee.
Other accommodations in the area include the Hotel Mogren (an excellent value) and two camp sites: Autocamp Avala and Budva Autocamp. Popular restaurants include the Jadran, a local favorite that is frequently praised as the best restaurant in town. The Jadran accommodates every budget, and patrons will be delighted with their chosen fair, regardless of cost. Other restaurants include the Bus Station Café, Donna Kod Nikole, and Lazo i Milan. The Bus Station Café is well-known for its cheap eats, while the Donna Kod Nikole specializes in seafood. Visit Lazo I Milan for your favourite Italian dishes. For those interested in the local nightlife, there are many bars and discos that operate until sunrise. One of the favourite hotspots is the MB Ice Club, where guests may enjoy cocktails and dance the Cuban tango.
Although popular for its contemporart entertainment, Budva has a deep history that, as legend has it, goes back to long before the days of written records. There is a great deal of archeological evidence that supports these legends, and places Budva among the oldest settlements on the Adriatic coast. Written evidence dates Budva's existence back to the 5th century B.C.
Throughout the years, many cultures have influenced the town and its inhabitants. Two of these include the Greeks and the Romans. When the Roman Empire fell, Budva happened to fall on the border that divided the east and west territories ruled by these two powers. Thus, the competing powers were equally influential in the development of the town. Other influences include Doclean kings, Serbian and Zetan aristocrats, the Venetians, and the Turks.
Because of this rich history, Budva Museum's pre-Roman artifacts make for a popular destination. The first floor of the museum features a dugout that looks down upon the original street located below the museums floors.
Austria, France and Russia also ruled the area at various times throughout history. In 1979, an earthquake virtually destroyed the town. Budva worked hard to rebuild and there is little evidence of the earthquake left.
Budva's rich past, mixture of cultures, beautiful beaches, and picturesque natural views makes it a fabulous place for visitors of all ages to spend a fulfilling holiday.
Jovo's villa has been such a delightful experience. The villa is in a very quiet area, but so close to Budva. We really did appreciated to be able to go and spend the day visiting and being part of the action and then coming end the afternoon to relax quietly at the nice pool and under the fig trees. The Villa is very new and confortable. It was sparkling clean and with all great furniture and amenities. Beds are very confortable and each room has good air conditioning with its own control. Great bathroom as well. The outdoor is amazing. Nice pool, clear water, with great filtering, no chlorine used, like fresh water. Long chairs, parasols and beach towels. The outdoor dinning was great, under the fig trees, with a good barbecue, easy to use. The kitchen is well equipped, we did prepare all our breakfast and dinner. And as a hint, Jovo's family has a restaurant and they can deliver... Was excellent. Montenegro is a place still a bit unknown - at least for westerners, but worth to be discovered. Food is great and they have been producing wines for 300 years, so none to say that they have very good ones. Sceneries are spectacular, and people warm and welcoming, particularly Jovo!
We had a wonderful week at the villa, perfect place for family fun and for relaxing. The villa and the pool area was clean and comfortable, piece of cake that the aqua park is within 5 minutes drive. Jovo was nice host, and a BIG plus that they do food delivery from their own restaurant.
Thx Jovo for excellent hospitality! I was in Montenegro with my wife, 2 kids (7 months and 4 years), mother and mother-in-law. We really enjoyed the house and the pool. Private, secure yet well located. I can warmly recommend anyone to rent this house.
What can I tell you more than this was my 3-rd stay in this property. Villa and surrounding is great for relaxing, and ideal to spend quiet and enjoyable time in full privacy with family and friends. Thank you Jovo for outstanding hospitality, and see you again next year.
Pleasant stay! Comfortable, elegant and clean place. 5 minutes from three the most beautiful beaches in town, 5 minutes from Old Town. Our stay was excellent because our host Jovo and his family were open for all questions or requests that we had. House is very well equipped with sea view and beautiful pool area and barbecue. Highly recommended place, great for families or couples. Thank you!
