Picture yourself on a hill called ‘Gunung Sari’, near Ubud, the cultural and culinary heart of Bali. You are looking out over the quiet rice fields. A luxury holiday in a design hotel. You have entered one of the newest Ubud hotels. While the sun sets in a sea of whispering green, the tropical garden is lighted discretely. The evening air is filled with delicate floral perfumes. Is that what you had in mind for your next holiday?
Small and quiet boutique hotel with 6 rooms in the rice fields, near Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali. If you want to stay with Belgians in Bali, this is a perfect choice.
Near the cultural and culinary heart of Bali you stand on the hill 'Gunung Sari'. You look out over the rice fields. Far from the hectic city life and the busy beach.
Here you can only hear the sounds of a tropical evening and vague sounds of the gamelan. The sun sets in a sea of rustling green. The garden is lit fairy-like. The evening sky full of floral perfume. Just a dip in the pool for dinner? When will your partner return from the Balinese massage at the spa?
It will soon be nice to come home, after a trip or a day of shopping in the city. You will be able to enjoy blissful peace and personal service in a homely atmosphere. The location offers a fantastic view of the rice fields, on the outskirts of Ubud. You walk to the center at no time. Bali is the 'Island of the Gods'. It is not surprising that the Masceti temple is right next to the hotel and you look out from the open living room on a forest temple, on the other side of the sawah.
You recognize the hand of Joost van Grieken in the sleek design with respect for the Balinese architecture. The result was a small-scale hotel, a luxury hotel, a quiet hotel where everyone will immediately feel at home.
In the choice of materials the owners were inspired by what was locally available: white wonosari stone from East Java, hardwood bankyrai parquet, wooden shingles and alang-alang grass for the roofs, red natural stone from Lombok for decorative wall parts. The bath in the spa is carved out of a solid rock.
Due to the small scale of the B & B and the desire of the owners to guarantee all their guests a quiet stay, no families with children are welcomed here.
“Very, very nice boutique hotel in Ubud. Stayed here for 5 nights. Had a wonderful time. Everything is as you would hope for: room, bed, bathroom grounds, pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this little oasis..”
