Makarska Riviera

Croatia / Dalmatia / Makarska Riviera

Makarska Riviera is situated below the mountain Biokovo, which is the second-highest mountain range in Croatia worth the steep climb to enjoy the unforgettable views of Croatia. The mountain is 1762 metres at its highest point and named St.Jura, after the 16th century St.Jura church, which was rebuilt in 1968.  It is also part of the Nature Park Biokovo, which other than having picturesque walking routes is also home to extraordinary wildlife such as golden eagles, the native Chamois and horses that are frequently spotted on the mountainside.

Makarska is home to many beautiful sandy beaches with clear sea and lush greenery that enjoys up to an average of 2750 hours of sun. Whilst it is one of the smaller Croatian cities, it has plenty to do and is in a great location that you can easily visit the surrounding areas such as Brač and Split

The Makarska bay is a picturesque town where you can enjoy plenty of cafes and bars overlooking the harbour and enjoy the excellent fresh fish that restaurants expertly prepare. The old town is a great tourist centre with old cobbled streets and weekly markets where you can see local produce and experience true Croatian culture.

Makarska is home to a number of historic churches where you can visit and get a true grip on the history of the beautiful bay. At night the promenade and old town will become livelier, where you can enjoy street performances and a variety of entertainment as well as many popular bars and clubs.

This beautiful Adriatic bay is truly worth a visit on your luxury villa holiday in Croatia, with a stunning natural environment that is a combination of wild mountains and calming greenery. The lush surroundings give you an opportunity for plenty of activities where you can experience the authentic Croatian culture. Explore our Makarska Riviera vacation rentals.
